Creative Photography
In addition to
, the D50 offers a choice of six Digital Vari-Program modes.
Selecting a program automatically optimizes settings to suit the selected
scene, making creative photography as easy as rotating the mode dial.
Mode
Description
Portrait
For portraits.
Landscape
For landscapes.
Child
For pictures of children.
Sports
For moving subjects.
Close up
For close up shots of small objects.
Night portrait
For portraits taken against a backdrop of night scenery.
To take pictures in Digital Vari-Program modes:

Portrait: Bringing out a Portrait Subject
Use for
portraits. Camera selects focus area
containing subject closest to camera; this subject
stands out clearly while background details are
softened, lending composition sense of depth.
Colors are processed for soft, natural-looking
skin tones.
• Degree of softening depends on amount of light available. Increase
distance between subject and background or use telephoto lens for best
results.
The Built-in Flash
If additional lighting is required for correct exposure in
