AF/AE Lock
Focus and exposure lock when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, and re-
main locked while the shutter-release button is held in this position (focus lock). Fo-
cus lock can be used to take pictures of off-center subjects or in situations in which
the camera is unable to focus using autofocus.
Focus

Position the subject in the center of the frame
and press the shutter-release button halfway.
Check the green (AF) lamp and focus indicator

With the shutter-release button pressed half-
way, check that the green (AF) lamp and focus
indicator glow steadily, indicating that the
subject is in focus.

Take the picture

Press the shutter-release button the rest of the
way down to shoot.
Recompose the picture

Focus and exposure remain locked while the
shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Do
not change the distance between the camera
and the subject while focus lock is in effect. If
the subject moves, release the shutter-release
button and focus again at the new distance.
