Once a file is selected, a scan window is opened to accommodate the size of the
image file. If the image size is larger than the available screen resolution, a maximum
size scan window will be opened with scroll bars to allow you to view the entire image.
Close
A scan window can be closed by selecting the
F
ILE
menu’s
C
LOSE
command, or
by clicking the standard close box in the upper-left corner of the window. If the image
in the window resulted from a new scan and has not been saved to disk, a query dialog,
shown in Figure 18.6, will appear. The Control – F4 keyboard shortcut will also
invoke the
C
LOSE
command.

Save
The

command causes the image in the active scan window to be saved as a
file. If the image has not been previously named and saved as a file, the

log will appear. The Control – S keyboard shortcut will also invoke the

command is typically used when you have modified a pre-
existing file and want to save it is a new file, thus leaving the original file intact. Before
performing the actual save, the

name and file format. The
