At this time the

dialog will be displayed, prompting you to enter the path to
the Nikon Installer. The Nikon Installer program is named
S
ETUP
.E
XE
. If the Nikon
distribution diskette is in the ‘A’ drive, enter
A:\S
ETUP
.E
XE
into the file name dialog,
then click the
OK
button. This is illustrated in Figure 3.3.

You will be prompted to answer a series of basic questions, after which the Nikon
Installer will automatically install the designated scanning software.
You can access help at any stage of the installation by clicking on the
H
ELP
but-
ton. Similarly, you can exit the Nikon Installer at any time by clicking on the
E
XIT
button.
To complete the software installation, simply select from the options available in
each dialog, which are explained fully in the following sections.
The Software Installer Dialog
The first dialog that appears after you launch the
S
ETUP
.E
XE
program is the
N
IKON
S
CANNER
S
OFTWARE
S
ETUP
dialog, seen in Figure 3.4. The Installer is decom-
pressing the scanner software files on the floppy disk and copying them to a temporary
file on your hard disk. This will take a few moments to complete.
