Port Self Test
Tests the ports to determine whether or not they are alive
—
functioning properly. To perform
this test correctly, you must have the lines connected to the Voice Mail ports. During the test,
the NT Voice Mail takes the port off hook and listens for dial tone. If no dial tone exists or it
cannot be perceived by the Voice Mail, this constitutes a failure. If dial tone exists, the Voice
Mail will dial a digit on the port to see if the digit breaks the dial tone. If the dial tone is not
broken, this constitutes a failure.
By performing an Immediate All Ports Self Test, you can manually test any port in your Voice
Mail at any time you want. But if any port has failed this self test, do the following:
1.
Trouble-shoot the PBX and then the phone system to find the cause of the port’s failure.
2.
Clear up the problem.
3.
Perform an Immediate Clear All Ports Failure, before you proceed with system programming.
In the Programming Guide, see:
Testing/Clearing Ports Immediately, starting on page 377.
Screen Saver
Prolongs the life of the Voice Mail monitor. If no one touches a key on the keyboard for 60
minutes, the monitor screen will go blank.
To restore (re-activate) the screen, press any key.
Shutting Down the System
Ensures the integrity of the database, if you need to turn off or reset the Voice Mail system.
