Do Immediate Self Test of Port (s)
You can immediately perform a self test on the port, when you click
the
button to activate an immediate Port Self Test.
The test consists of two-parts:
1. After taking the port off-hook, the Voice Mail will listen for dial tone. If no dial tone
exists, the lack of dial tone would constitute a test failure.
2 . But if a dial tone exists, the Voice Mail will dial a digit on the port to see whether the digit
will break the tone. If the dial tone does not get broken, the unbroken dial tone would con-
stitute a test failure. On the Port Activities screen, the Call State field shows the word
“Testing” during the test and “Failed” if the port fails the test. (To reach this screen, click
the
icon on the menu bar.)
When you have finished entering all values and enabling all options, which you want for Port 1,
click the
button to bring you to the Port Options General tab for Port 2, which you
use in the same way to customize Port 2.
Continue thus until you have customized each port in your Voice Mail system.
When you have finished customizing ports, click the
button to save your selections
and return to the Voice Mail Main window.
Now you are ready to change the status of any customized port to In Service, in order to make it
fully operational. For instructions, see the Changing the Port Status section starting on page 375.
