Connect the NT Voice Mail to Your LAN
Connecting to a LAN should be done by your LAN Manager (someone who is knowledgeable in
configuring LANs). Connect the NT Voice Mail to your LAN if you want to:

Program the Voice Mail from a local computer that is also connected to your LAN. (This
method does not require using the modem).
Q
Back up the database to a local server.
Q
Use the NVM-Desktop Messaging option.
To connect your NT Voice to a LAN, your system must be TCP/IP compatible and have an ethernet
connection.
10/100 PCI Network (LAN) Card
Your NT Voice Mail is equipped with a 10/100 PCI Network (LAN) Card that is set for auto nego-
tiation. This allows the card to automatically detect whether you are connected to a 10 or
100 Mbps hub. The card is equipped with an RJ-45 connector (which requires twisted pair ethernet
cable). See Figure 1-7.
