Part IV – Advanced Firewall Permissions
The Advanced Firewall Permissions page has settings that can be configured to permit the use of
Ping and Traceroute for troubleshooting purposes.
Ping and traceroute are diagnostic utilities that are helpful in isolating network connectivity and
performance problems.
Any of the following options can be
enabled
by checking the box to the right of each one and then pressing the
Apply Changes
button.:

Allow Ping Out:
Allow clients behind the InterLynx/TS to ping machines on the Internet. This is a
relatively safe setting and may be left enabled.

Allow Traceroute Out:
Allow clients behind the InterLynx/TS to trace the route to machines on
the Internet. This is a relatively safe setting and may be left enabled.
•
Respond to Ping:
Allow the InterLynx/TS to respond to ping requests from machines on the
Internet. This should be enabled for debugging only.
•
Respond to Traceroute:
Allow the InterLynx/TS to respond to traceroute requests from machines
on the Internet. This should be enabled for debugging only.
