To use fpgen.exe
1.
Copy the
fpgen.exe
file from the CD to a folder on your computer.
2.
Generate a key from the SSH client.
3.
Export the key to a file and place it in the same folder as the
fpgen.exe
file you copied from the CD.
4.
Open a DOS prompt and go to the folder in which you placed the
fpgen.exe
and
key
file.
5.
Enter
fpgen
and the name of the public key file. For example:
fpgen
ip71.pub
.
6.
Copy the generated fingerprint.
7.
Log on to the IP71 with the console port or through SSH by using the
Password-Based Authentication
as described above.
8.
Enter the SSH fingerprint. For example, type
set ssh usertable
index=1 comment= JohnsPC fingerprint=
. Type or paste
the fingerprint. This pastes your fingerprint after the equals (=) character.
Add
status=active
after this and press Enter. The entire command
should look something like the following:
set ssh usertable index=1 comment=John@PC1
fingerprint=23:23:34:85:61:47:53:49:74
status=active
9.
To test the SSH key-based connection when you are connected through
SSH, disconnect the current SSH session.
Reconnect through the SSH client using key-based authentication. You
should now be connected based on the SSH keys. The keys are exchanged
based on the fingerprint you installed.
Disabling Fingerprints and Password Authentication
Note
This process is required only for security with key-based authentication.
