Special note for Windows XP and 2000/2003
users
Both operating systems will detect new hardware next time they boot.
The following simple steps explain how to avoid that new hardware detection takes place at every
boot of the machine
1.
Close the “Found New Hardware Wizard”
2.
Insert the CD shipped with Nokia 30 in your drive (let’s assume it is X:\)
3.
Run the executable X:\Modem Options for Nokia 30\Modem Setup for Nokia 30.exe
4.
Accept the temporary folder suggested by the setup to unzip the file
5.
Setup will detect COM port Nokia 30 is connected to. Should it fail, set manually the COM you
identified with the test procedure (
http://www.achab.com/prod/intern.cfm/13/1070/44/1
)
6.
Hit Next till the end of the Setup
7.
Restart the PC
8.
Operating system will detect again new hardware and will launch setup wizard
9.
This step depends on the system you are running:
-
Windows 2000: select “Display a list of the known drivers for this device …”
-
Windows XP/2003: select the advanced users option: “Install from a list …” and press Next. Then select
“Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.” and press Next
10.
As hardware type select Modem
11.
Select manufacturer “Nokia Mobile Phones” and then device “Nokia 30 (cable)”
Warning
: Windows XP/2003 will prompt you that the driver hasn’t passed the “Windows
logo”
certification; ignore it.
12.
Reboot one more time the PC and you are all set
