PC Cards
The pen computer has two PC card slots that can accept Type I/II and
Type III cards that conform with PCMCIA Rev. 2.1/JEIDA Ver. 4.2.
Some examples are described below.
Fax/modem Card
This device allows the pen computer to be connected to a telephone
line and used as a fax or modem.
Network Interface Card
This device allows the pen computer to connect to a local area network
(LAN), such as an Ethernet or an IBM 3270 network.
SCSI Interface Card
This device is used to connect SCSI devices such as CD ROM drives
and scanners.
ATA Device
An AT attachment, functions similar to an IDE hard disk drive, is ei-
ther a rotating or a solid state mass storage device. Even when an
ATA device is removed from the pen computer ’s PC card slot, it does
not require an external power supply in order to retain its internal data.

NOTE:
Because these cards require a comparatively large amount of current, the
AC adapter/recharger should be used to supply power to the system
when they are installed in the pen computer.
SRAM Memory Card
This is a static RAM memory device that can be formatted as a floppy
disk; a write protect switch is located on the edge of the card. Even
when an SRAM memory card is removed from the pen computer ’s PC
card slot, the card’s built in battery protects the data in the card.
Flash Memory Card
This is a solid state storage device that works in the same manner as a
floppy disk; a write protect switch is located on the edge of the card.
