1. Calculate the length the straight duct equivalent to the exhaust duct
elbows.
NOTE: For a worst case situation, each elbow in the exhaust duct will
add friction equivalent to a length straight duct that is 65 times the
diameter of the duct in length.
LE = (N) x 65 X D
LE = Equivalent length of straight duct in feet
N = Number of elbows
D = Diameter of the duct in meter (feet)

NOTE: From a duct loss chart in the American Society of
Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHARE)
Fundamentals Handbook, the pressure loss due to friction created
by the walls of the air duct is equal to 7.62 mm (0.5-in.) of water
per 30.48 meters (100 ft )of exhaust duct.
