The 6-way valve enables the following operating positions:
FILTER
In this position, the valve is in normal position. The water coming from the skimmer flows via the pump through the 6-way
valve into the upper water distribution system of the filter tank and is pressed through the filter bed. Dirt particles are
retained in the quartz sand and the purified water passes through the filter star and the return pipe back into the pool.
BACKWASH
Since during normal operation
–
filtering
–
the filter sand packs up with the dirt particles after a certain time, it is
necessary to clean it at certain intervals. For this purpose, the valve is set to the "Backwash" position. Now the water
coming from the pool, is pressed from below through the filter star, the dirt particles are whirled up and flushed through
the upper water distribution system or through the backwash pipe into the sewer or seepage shaft. The time for
backwashing can be read off the manometer. Once the boiler pressure increases by 0.3 bar compared to the initial
value, it is time to perform backwashing. (Rule of thumb: backwash once a week) The backwashing process is
completed when clean water appears again on the sight glass of the valve.
RINSE
During backwashing, the filter sand is whirled up and must be consolidated
again
. This is achieved with the valve
position "Rinse". The water sucked into the pool is fed into the filter tank via the upper distribution system and is
pressed through the filter bed. In the normal "Filter" position, the water would immediately be returned to the pool. In the
"Rinse" position, however, the water is pumped into the sewage system or into the seepage shaft in order to keep any
dirt particles away when backwashing the swimming pool.
EMPTY
The 6-way valve is brought into the "Waste" position for emptying the tank via the filter system. The pool water is fed
directly into the sewer via the pump and valve without flowing through the filter tank.
BYPASSING THE FILTER (RECIRCULATION)
Also, in the "Recirculation" position, the water is not passed through the filter, but is simply circulated between the pump
and the tank. This position is required if the pool water is to be circulated quickly, but without being cleaned, e.g. during
heating or for evenly fast distribution after a chlorine surge.
CLOSED
This valve position is only required for maintenance work on the system and means that the water circuit between the
tank and the filter is shut off.
Important for all positions:
Switch off the system before actuating the 6-way valve Operation of the valve under operating pressure causes damage
to the seals and impairs service life.
