MSTP configuration
MSTP isolates link fluctuations on a particular VLAN segment and provides load balancing.
Spanning tree to VLAN mapping can be configured on a per VLAN basis or multiple VLANs can
be mapped to the same spanning tree.
Prerequisites to MSTP configuration

You must disable RSTP and enable MSTP before configuring MSTP. See

Variable definitions
The following table describes the variables and values for configuring the MSTP basic settings.
Variable
Value
MSTP Status
Displays the MSTP status. The status displayed is based on the MSTP
setting (Enable or Disable) selected in STP Basic Settings.
Compatibility
Set the compatibility version for MSTP. Select one of the following options:
•
STP Compatible – indicates that the port is in STP Compatible mode.
•
RSTP – indicates that the port is in RSTP mode.
•
MSTP – indicates that the port is in MSTP mode.
The default value is MSTP.
Bridge Priority
Type the bridge priority value that is used to select the root bridge.
The value ranges from 0 to 61440.
The values for bridge priority must be in steps of 4096.
The default value is 32768.
Transmit Hold Count
Type the maximum number of packets that can be sent in an interval.
The value ranges from 1 to 10.
The default value is 3.
