Meet Me Audio Conferencing IM Chat feature
This feature gives the chairperson the ability to dynamically create a
conference chat room. After joining the conference, the chairperson uses
the appropriate Telephony User Interface (TUI) command to launch a chat
room. All current conference participants who are using a Multimedia Client
(standalone or clientset) are invited to join the chat room. Participants that
join the audio conference later automatically receive an invitation to the chat
room. The chat room name is the same as the Meet Me Audio conference
access code. Chat room participants can invite additional users to join the
room. The invited users are not required to be Meet Me Audio conference
participants.
The chairperson can use a TUI command to terminate an existing
conference chat room. The parameter Chair Ends Conference determines
how the chat room ultimately terminates. This parameter is set by the
administrator and can be modified by the chairperson. If the parameter
is enabled, the chat room continues for one minute after the chairperson
leaves. A warning message appears in the room when the chairperson
leaves. After one minute, the chat room automatically terminates, thus
ending the chat sessions of the participants.
If the parameter Chair Ends Conference is disabled, the chat room
continues until the last participant leaves the chat room. The chat room
operates independently of the Meet Me Audio Conferencing service
and can continue indefinitely after the conference ends. Subsequent
Meet-Me-Audio-Conferencing conferences that use the same access code
also use the same chat room. Consequently, chat room participants can
encounter users from the previous session.
Participation in Meet-Me-Audio-Conferencing chat rooms is only available to
users of the following clients:
•
Multimedia PC Client version 3.0 or later
•
Multimedia Web Client version 3.0 or later
If a conference participant cannot join a chat room because their client
does not support conference chat rooms, the chairperson does not receive
any notification.
Users who have privacy enabled cannot join the conference chat room.
These users receive an error message if they accept the chat room
invitation. The Meet Me Audio Conferencing IM Chat feature is not licensed.
This feature is automatically deployed with the Meet Me Audio Conferencing
service.
