Introduction
Meet Me Audio Conferencing Premium feature
This feature provides improvements over basic Meet Me Audio
Conferencing. Premium conferencing is designed to provide improved
quality of service (QoS) in networks where Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
and cable modem services are prevalent. This feature does not require
a license key and is enabled by the administrator at the SIP root domain
level using the provisioning client. Premium conferencing is enabled using
subscriber service packages.
Note: Enabling this feature results in a decrease in Media Application
Server capacity.
Premium conferencing requires additional Media Application Server
resources but provides a superior conferencing experience when compared
with basic Meet Me Audio Conferencing. Both the basic and Premium
conferencing can coexist and run simultaneously on the same Media
Application Server.
The features that distinguish Premium conferencing from basic Meet Me
Audio Conferencing are as follows:
•
automatic gain control (AGC) runs on each channel to increase and
correct the amplitude of low volume
Note: The low volume channels, referred to here, are typically caused
by incorrect microphone settings or poor headsets.
•
the capability to mix up to three speakers every 50 milliseconds (ms).
Note: Basic conferencing mixes two speakers every 50 ms.
•
Voice Activity Detection (VAD) that enables the system to make
better decisions about the channels to mix. VAD provides improved
differentiation between voice and background noise.
•
Quality of service (QoS) monitoring of all channels for network problems
such as packet loss and excessive jitter.
Note: The Meet Me Audio Premium Conferencing service monitors
each port for packet loss and jitter. If excessive packet loss and or jitter
is detected, a Global IP Sound (GIPS) resource corrects the problem.
This resource assists in maintaining a good audio quality experience.
DivX Multipoint Video Conferencing
This feature provides DivX video conferencing capabilities to users who
participate in a Meet Me conference. Using the DivX video CODEC, the
feature supports all video resolutions available on the Multimedia PC Client
and Multimedia Web Client. DivX is the only video CODEC supported by
the Media Application Server, and is installed as part of the Multimedia PC
