Changing the MAS platform
Perform the following steps to upgrade your hardware from the x335 or x336
to the BladeCenter:
•
Back up the MAS user data on the old server, using the MAS backup
procedure in the Backup and Restore Guide (NN42020-502).
•
Back up the custom announcements on the old server.
•
Install the MAS base and application software on the new server.
•
Restore the user data backup to the new server, following the MAS
restore procedure in the Backup and Recovery Guide (NN42020-502).
•
Restore the custom announcements backup to the new server.
IBM eServer BladeCenter chassis
The IBM eServer BladeCenter (see
Figure 7 "IBM eServer BladeCenter
(front)" (page 51)
) is a 7U high chassis, that provides slots for up to 14 IBM
HS20 blade server host boards. Each IBM HS20 blade server is the host for
a Media Application Server application, and service software. Also included
in the IBM eServer BladeCenter is a CD-ROM or floppy disk module that is
accessible to all 14 slots for any local software installation. Up to three IBM
eServer BladeCenters can reside in a single frame.
