Media Application Server platform
For the current release of IM Chat, there is only one MAS scaling option:
the simplex architecture, consisting of one IM-Chat-Room MAS, as in
Figure
24 "Simplex IM Chat configuration" (page 82)
in one service instance, within
one domain.

Meet Me Audio Conferencing system scalability and expansion
The Meet me audio conferencing service has no built in limitations on how
many simultaneous conferences can exist on the system. The maximum
number of participants in a single conference is limited only by the number
of channel licenses purchased and or the capacity of the scaled system,
that may vary based upon factors such as hardware and operating system.
Conferences have no explicit guaranteed minimum or maximum port limits.
Ports are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the license keys
are exhausted or available capacity is exceeded.
The overall Meet me audio conferencing service must be engineered to
account for server capacity (that may be limited by licensing). The system
should be over engineered given the unpredictable usage patterns.
The Meet me audio conferencing service takes advantage of the Media
Application Server scalable, multiple server capabilities and makes use
of the Media Application Server replicated persistent content storage
for caching user data. There are at most two active content storage
components in a system.
The network supports a single point of access to the Meet Me Audio
Conferencing service. This single point of access, however, can be scaled
as mentioned with multiple servers, all of which are available through
Session Manager routing for the one provisioned Dial-In Number. Any
server can host a conference, so the service is continuously available to all
users as long as at least one server and one content storage component
remain in service. This results in a highly available system when a multiple
server configuration is employed.
