The
EDIT ROUTE
screen comprises two sections:
At the top half of the screen, the right side shows a list of the
selected route’s waypoints and legs; the left side shows a
graphical representation of this route and its total length. (To
the right of the
NEXT LEG
column is a red vertical slide bar,
which is relative to the size of the list of existing waypoints in
the route. The smaller the slider, the larger the list; the larger
the slider, the smaller the list. The slider also indicates your
relative position in the list.
The bottom half of the
EDIT ROUTE
screen displays all the
waypoints in the database; these waypoints are identical to
those shown on the
WAYPOINTS
screen.
Press the
MOVE UP
and
MOVE DOWN
menu keys to highlight
the route’s individual waypoints as well as the route legs
connecting those waypoints; pressing and holding either of
these keys lets the key “auto-repeat,” which moves you up and
down the list more quickly than single keypresses. You can
either delete individual waypoints, or insert additional
waypoints in each leg. You can insert waypoints at the
beginning, middle, or end of a route.
You select waypoints to insert into the route from the list at
the bottom of the screen. To select these waypoints from the
database, press the
CURSOR
PAD
up or down to highlight the
desired waypoint. You can search for waypoints by symbol,
name, distance, or bearing; just use the
KEYPAD
to enter the
desired characters into the
SEARCH
field. To search by
symbol, press the
CURSOR
PAD
left to highlight the
SYMBOL
column, then press the
LEFT ARROW
or
RIGHT ARROW
keys
to select the desired symbol.
As you change the route, you’ll see the changes in the route’s
graphical representation (and its total length). Even if you
don’t want to edit a route, you can still press the
MOVE UP
or
MOVE DOWN
keys to graphically view the location of each
waypoint and each leg.
