Speed-over-ground (SOG) and course-over-ground (COG)
Your
SOG
is the actual speed of your vessel over the surface of
the earth. Your
COG
is the actual path, in degrees true or
magnetic, that your vessel travels over the surface of the earth.
Estimated time of arrival (ETA) and estimated time enroute
(ETE)
The steering screens display ETA as day and time, and ETE as
either minutes and seconds, hours and minutes, or days and
hours—depending on the distance to the active waypoint (a
distance of more than 24 hours will activate the day/hour
display).
Navigating from the routes screen
Following a route
from the routes
screen
You can start following a route directly from the
ROUTES
screen. First, select the route to follow. You can then follow the
route in either a forward or reverse direction, in three different
ways:
•
follow the selected route now—you choose a starting
waypoint
•
join any leg of the route, then follow the rest of the route
•
add the route—starting with a selected waypoint—to the
end of your trip
NOTE:
You can also perform any of these functions right at the
CHART
screen; for details, see “Following a route from the chart screen”
starting on page 10-10.
Before you can access any of the above options, you must first
choose a route to follow:
1. Press the
WAYPTS/ROUTES
key to access the
ROUTES
screen.
