field. The control head’s software revisions are
displayed in the other two boxes.
Viewing head 2 serial number and software revision
For systems with two control heads, each head has its own
serial number located at the back of the head. You can view
this serial number at the
PRODUCT INFORMATION
screen, in
the left-hand box of the
HEAD 2 SN/SW REVS
field. The
control head’s software revisions are displayed in the other
two boxes.
Processor serial number and software revision
The serial number of the processor is affixed to the back of the
processor, and also can be viewed at the
PRODUCT
INFORMATION
screen in the left-hand box of the
PROCESSOR SN/REV
field. Serial numbers ending with the
letter
D
indicate that the 961/962 contains an internal DGPS
differential receiver. The processor’s software version is
displayed in the right-hand box.
Beacon receiver self-test and software revision
The 961/962 automatically self-tests the internal beacon
receiver, if installed, each time you power-up. The box on the
right of the
BCN RCVR ST/ REV
field displays the software
version of the DGPS receiver (if installed). The self-test
message
PASS
or
FAIL
is displayed on the left. If all test
parameters are met,
PASS
is displayed. If the differential
receiver fails any of the test criteria,
FAIL
is displayed. If the
box reads
FAIL
, you won’t be receiving DGPS signals; for
details about troubleshooting the DGPS receiver, see the
Northstar 961/962 GPS Chart Navigator Installation Manual
. In
many cases, the reason for the failure is an open or shorted
antenna cable, which can be repaired in the field. If this isn’t
the source of the failure, call the Northstar Service Department
for further instructions.
If a beacon receiver isn’t installed, this box will be blank.
