Sorting by symbol
To show a list of waypoints sorted by symbol—with similar
symbols listed together—press the
CURSOR PAD
left to high-
light the
SYMBOL
column (shown at the far left without a
heading). This makes it easy, for example, to see all waypoints
using the fish symbol. To choose the desired symbol, press the
LEFT ARROW
and
RIGHT ARROW
keys below the
KEYPAD
.
Note that waypoints with the same symbol are also sorted
alphabetically.
Sorting by name
To show waypoints in alphabetical order, press the
CURSOR
PAD
left or right to highlight the
NAME
column. Waypoints
with a special character or a number as the first character
appear at the top of the list.
Sorting by distance
To show the waypoints near your present position, press the
CURSOR PAD
left or right to highlight the
DISTANCE
column,
and those waypoints will appear in order at the top of the list.
The 961 automatically updates the
DISTANCE
column as you
continue to navigate. However, the order of the list won’t be
resorted while you’re displaying the list; you must leave and
return to viewing the
WAYPOINTS
screen to update the sort-
ing order.
Displaying local waypoints
To show the waypoints closest to your current position (also
called local waypoints), highlight the
DISTANCE
column, then
enter zeroes into the
SEARCH
field. The list then shows those
waypoints that are closest to your present position at the top
of the list.
Sorting by bearing
To show a list of waypoints sorted by bearing, press the
CUR-
SOR PAD
right to highlight the
BRG
column. When sorted by
bearing, if you want to see all the waypoints to the east, for
example, look at the part of the list containing bearings near
090
°.
The 961 automatically updates the
BRG
column as you con-
tinue to navigate. However, the order of the list won’t be
