Drag the file to the appropriate folder in the Destination computer’s folders tree. The file then appears in the
Destination computer’s files pane, with an icon indicating that it is an added file.
Displaying Files from the Base Windows Installer Package
Task:
To display files from the base Windows Installer package in the Files and Folders view:
1.
Select Options from the Tools menu to display the Options dialog box.
2.
Select the View Settings tab. The Option Dialog’s View Settings pane opens.
3.
Select the Display files from the original MSI package in addition to files added in the transform check box.
4.
Click OK.
When you return to the Files and Folders view, all files from the base Windows Installer package are displayed
as well as the files added in the transform. By default, this option is enabled.
Preventing Installation of Files from the MSI
Task:
To prevent files from the base Windows Installer package from being installed:
1.
Select Files and Folders from the checklist. The Files and Folders View opens.
2.
Navigate to the folder which contains the file in the Destination computer’s folders tree that you want to
remove from the installation.
3.
In the Destination computer’s files pane, select the file you want to prevent from being installed and select
Remove from the context menu.
The actual file within the Windows Installer package is not deleted—only the entry in the File table is removed.
The icon for the file changes to a computer with a red “X” over it.
If you remove a file, and later want to restore it to the installation, simply right-click the file again and select
Restore.
