Converting a Single Application to a Virtual
Package
This section explains how to use the Windows Installer Converter to convert a single Windows Installer package
into a virtual package.
Task:
To use the Windows Installer Converter to convert a single application to a virtual package:
1.
On the Repackager Home page, click
Convert a Windows Installer Package to an Application
Virtualization Format
. The
Welcome Panel
of the Windows Installer Converter opens.
Note •
You can also open the Windows Installer Converter by selecting
Windows Installer Converter
on the
Tools
menu.
2.
Click
Next
to continue. The
Select Conversion Target
panel opens.
3.
Select
Microsoft App-V Application
,
ThinApp Application
and/or
Citrix Profile
and click
Next
. The
Conversion Mode
panel opens.
4.
Select
Single Application
and click
Next
. The
Select Windows Installer Package
panel opens.
Note •

5.
Click
Browse
and select the Windows Installer package that you want to convert to a virtual package. All of
the transform files that are in the same folder as the selected Windows Installer package are automatically
listed in the
Windows Installer Transform Files (.MST)
list.
Caution •
It is preferable that all of the transforms that you include in a virtual package be located in the same
folder as the Windows Installer .msi package so that they can be accessed when the virtual package is built.
Only those transform files that are in this folder will be listed on the
Transform Files (.MST)
list on this panel.
6.
Select those transform files that you would like to include in the virtual package.

The order in which transforms are applied can be changed by selecting a transform and clicking the Move
Up (
) and Move Down (
) buttons.
•
Use the Delete button (
) to delete a transform from the list.
7.
Click
Next
. The
Edit Windows Installer Package
panel opens, where you are given the opportunity to use
the InstallShield Editor Microsoft App-V Assistant, ThinApp Assistant, or Citrix Assistant to edit this Windows
Installer package before creating the virtual package.
With the Microsoft App-V Assistant you can:
