To perform a rolling cluster upgrade of OES 2 Linux and Novell Cluster Services:
1
Bring down the OES 2 Linux cluster server you want to upgrade.
Any cluster resources that were running on the server should fail over to another server in the
cluster.
You can also manually migrate the resources to another server in the cluster prior to bringing
down the server. This prevents the resources from failing back to the node after you have
completed the upgrade.
2
Upgrade the server by using the
Update
option on the OES 2 Linux installation.
See “
Upgrading to OES 2 SP2
” in the
OES 2 SP2: Installation Guide
.
3
If necessary, manually cluster migrate the resources that were previously loaded on this server
server back to the upgraded server.
The resources can automatically fail back if both of the following apply:
The failback mode for the resources was set to Auto.
This Linux server is the preferred node for the resources.
4
Repeat
Step 2
through
Step 5
for each OES 2 Linux cluster server until your entire cluster has
been upgraded.
4.3 Upgrade Issues for OES 2 SP2
This section contains known issues for upgrading clusters from OES 2 Linux or OES 2 SP1 Linux to
OES 2 SP2.
Section 4.3.1, “Updating the iFolder Resource Template,” on page 54
4.3.1 Updating the iFolder Resource Template
In OES 2 SP2 Linux, the Novell Cluster Services resource template for Novell iFolder 3.x has
changed. The revised template is
/opt/novell/ncs/templates/iFolder_template.xml
. You
must run a script on cluster nodes after upgrading to SP2 in order to update the new resource
template information in Novell Cluster Services and eDirectory.
After upgrading the cluster nodes from OES 2 Linux or OES 2 SP1 Linux to OES 2 SP2 Linux:
1
For each node in the cluster, open a terminal console as the
root
user, then enter:
/opt/novell/ncs/bin/ncstempl.py -U
