Welcome
Thank you very much for purchasing the Nowsonic PowerPlant! Now-
sonic PowerPlant is a power supply and power conditioner for instal-
lation in 19“ racks and cabinets with outlets for 10 peripherals on the
front and rear panel. PowerPlant stabilizes the incoming AC voltage
in the range from 170 to 260 VAC and provides uncompromised pro-
tection against electrical surge and voltage peaks. The power on and
off of external amplifiers and other peripherals can be time-staggered
thanks to the internal sequencer.
The 10 IEC 320 outlets are grouped and provide individual filter set-
tings for connecting analog or digital devices and for operation with
high loads. External USB devices can be connected and charged via an
USB port on the front panel. Multiple PowerPlant units can be linked
to handle higher loads. PowerPlant ensures a fault free operation of
your equipment in an optimized voltage range and protects against
expensive repairs and downtime of your equipment.
Features
Stabilization of input voltages in the range from 170 to 260 VAC
Protects the connected devices from electrical damage
10 IEC-320 outlets in 3 groups
Delayed power-up and power-down of the connected devices
Extremely fast response to transients and surge below 1 nanosecond
Status overview via LEDs and input voltage display on the front panel
Dimmable, retractable LED light
Handling of current peaks up to 6,500 amps
Applications
Power conditioner for live and studio racks
Surge protection for connected peripherals
Earthing point for point-to-point grounding of the peripherals
Dimmable rack light
Controls and connectors on the front panel
On the front panel of PowerPlant, you will find the following connec-
tors and buttons:
1) IEC outlets UNSWITCHED CONVENIENCE OUTLETS
The IEC outlets in the UNSWITCHED CONVENIENCE OUTLETS sec-
tion are always active, regardless whether PowerPlant is turned on
or not. The filtered output voltage is constant at 230 VAC, the cur-
rent is 8 amps. Accordingly, the overall power for the two outlets is
1,840 watts for continuous operation.
2) 10A Output Breaker
PowerPlant is designed for a maximum current of 10 amps. If the
overall current of the connected load equipment exceeds this
limit, the 10 A fuse is triggered and the current output shuts down.
In this case, the BREAKER OPEN LED (5) lights red. Remove the
connected load equipment with an extremely high power con-
sumption. Next, reset the fuse and turn on PowerPlant if needed.
3)
POWER switch
Via the Power switch, you can turn Power Plant on or off. In this
case, the WIRING ON LED (6) lights green. When PowerPlant is
turned on, the grouped outlets on the back are time-staggered
turned on (DIGITAL FILTER, ANALOG FILTER and after 6 seconds
HIGH POWER). When PowerPlant is turned off, the sequence is
inversed.
4)
LEDs ZONE 1, ZONE 2 and ZONE 3
Via these three LEDs PowerPlant indicates whether the outlets on
the back are in use. The assignment is as follows:
Outlets DIGITAL FILTER
ZONE 1
Outlets ANALOG FILTER
ZONE 2
Outlets HIGH POWER
ZONE 3
The LEDs light green when the connected devices are properly sup
plied with power.
