NTI MINI SERVER ENVIRONMENT MONITORING SYSTEM

3. Up to four dry-contact sensors or additional liquid detection sensors can also be connected to the terminals marked
“CONTACTS”. Sensors with 16-26 AWG connection wires, that operate on 5V at 10mA maximum current may be used. A
contact resistance of 10k
Ω
or less will be interpreted by the ENVIROMUX-MINI as a closed contact.
To install the dry-contact sensor(s):
A. Attach the positive lead to a terminal corresponding to a "+5V" marking on the ENVIROMUX-MINI and the ground lead to
the next terminal to the right that will correspond to a marking on the ENVIROMUX-MINI. Tighten the set screw
above each contact. Terminal sets are numbered 1-4.
B. Mount the sensors as desired.
Figure 5- Terminal block for contact sensors
Note: The terminal block is removable for easy sensor wire attachment if needed.
Shielded cable must be used to connect to the DRY CONTACT ports in order to meet CE emission requirements.
Connect the drain wire of the shield to the ground ( ) terminal of the dry contact in addition to the contact return wire.
To install additional liquid detection sensors
, just apply the two wires of the sensor to the +5V and terminals for a
numbered contact. It doesn’t matter which wire goes on +5V or ground when wiring liquid detection sensors.
Connect to Ethernet
Connect a CAT5 patch cable (RJ45 connectors on each end wired pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2 etc) from the local Ethernet
network connection to the connector on the ENVIROMUX-MINI marked "ETHERNET".
Figure 6- Connect ENVIROMUX-MINI to the Ethernet
For direct connection from a PC to the ENVIROMUX-MINI, use a crossover cable. See page 27 for crossover cable
pinout.
Note: The Ethernet port that the ENVIROMUX-MINI is connected to should be configured for 10Mbps half duplex.
Shielded CAT 5,5e, or 6 cable must be used to connect to the ETHERNET and RS232 ports in order to meet CE emission
requirements.
