8. Operation
(Figure

)
Caution!
As hygiene is of upmost importance,
please always wash your hands before expressing
milk and observe the advice in “10. Hygiene Tips”
on page 24.
Important!
First set the suction power regulator
17
to
minimum by rotating the ring towards the “
–
”
symbol. You can then easily increase the suction
strength as you express milk in Phase 2.
1. Switch the breast pump on. To do this, press
the On/Off button
14
.
Important!
The breast pump automatically
simulates your baby's natural sucking action.
2. Position the breast shield
2
on your breast
so that the nipple is positioned in the centre
of the shield. Gently press the breast shield
in order to ensure a good seal when
expressing the milk.
Hold the pump in a
vertical position.
Note!
If you hold the pump at too great an
angle or if the pump topples over, it will
switch off automatically.
Phase 1:
In the first minute
the sucking rhythm is short
and stimulating to stimu-
late the natural milk flow
reflex.
Phase 2:
After this, the pump
changes to a slow and inten-
sive suction rhythm.
Important!
If the pump is switched off and
then switched on again the programme goes
back to the beginning with the fast suction
rhythm. This gives you the opportunity to
extend Phase 1.
3. Now you can adjust the suction using the
suction power regulator
17
until the opti-
mum suction strength is reached.
If the suction is too weak, turn dial towards
the “
+
” symbol.
If the suction is too strong, turn the suction
power dial
17
towards the “
–
” symbol.
Note:
In phase 2 the breast pump automati-
cally changes to a stronger suction power, so
remember to select a lower suction setting
at the beginning.
Caution:
In order not to damage the pump
you should ensure that the expressed milk
does not reach as far as the lip valve
4
.
4. Press the On/Off button
14
again to stop the
pumping action.
5. After use, place the breast pump in the stand
6
for stability.
6. Unscrew the bottle
5
from the connection
ring
3
and motor unit. Be sure to keep the
bottle
vertical
.
7. If you are using adapter
18
disconnect the
adapter
18
in order to disconnect the pump
completely from the power supply.
8. Clean the parts directly after expressing (see
“5. Cleaning and Sterilising” on page 20).
8.1 Feeding expressed milk
1. Screw the teat
10
onto the bottle with the
screw ring
9
.
8.2 Storing expressed milk

supplied screw ring
9
and sealing disc
7
.
Caution:
Please observe the information in
section “11. Storing Milk” on page 25.
2. Using a freezer pen, write the date and time
of storage in the allocated space on the con-
tainer.
