you must be careful not to set the valves so that a return line is switched to a tank
for long that is not also supplying fuel, lest it overflow and pollute the water through
the tank vents’ overflowing!
The manifold has a clear fuel diagram on the front of its panel.
4L7: Fuel Measurement
Electric fuel level gauges (pictured above) are on the upper panel to starboard
above the helm console. There are very accurate sight gauges on the forward
corner of each tank. To use the sight gauges, simultaneously press the
buttons at top and bottom of the gauge, let the fuel level settle, release the
buttons and read the level.
4M: Furnace
4M1: Furnace Concept
The boat is equipped with a Kabola Hot Water Heating System.
This is a very compact furnace that burns the same Diesel fuel as
the engines. The fuel comes from one of the engine tanks, but it
uses a negligible amount of fuel, about a pint each hour it actually
runs. The furnace heats hot water which is circulated throughout
the boat. Individual blowers, each with its own thermostat,
then forces the air into each area of the boat from small heat
exchangers in each area.
4M2: Furnace Operation
The furnace is controlled by an “On-Off” function on
thermostats in the saloon and each stateroom. When a
thermostat calls for heat, the furnace’s built-in computer will warm
up the furnace, supply heat to the boat until the thermostat senses
it is warm enough, then shut off the fans while the furnace goes
through a “cool-down” cycle. You need not do anything but set a
thermostat!
Adjust any one or more of the thermostats to the desired level.
The furnace will fire and begin heating the water.
of the thermostats has reached it’s setting. Then the furnace
will go through a cool down period and shut down. If the
temperature falls below the set level on any thermostat, the
furnace will turn on automatically and repeat its cycle.
If you don’t want heat in a given room, turn off its thermostat. If you want the heat totally off, all 3
thermostats must be off. Each room thermostat operates independently. Therefore, if any one thermostat
requests heat, the furnace will turn on.
