The maintenance indicator is supplied with power by a button cell battery. You can
check the status of the button cell battery as follows:
Press the battery test button of the maintenance indicator:
– Green LED is illuminated. The maintenance indicator is adequately supplied with
power.
– Green LED is weakly illuminated or is not illuminated. Replace the button cell
battery. When inserting the new button cell battery make sure that the polarity is
correct.
Clean sieve.
1. Loosen the lateral drain plugs on the sludge discharge.
2. Rinse the sieve with distributor water jet by slowly increasing the strength of the
water jet via the regulator. The sludge will thus be rinsed further and further to the
rear until it is rinsed into the collection tray. From the collection tray the wastewa-
ter can flow out via the cleaning discharge.
3. Clean the collection tray of residual sludge to the end.
4. Turn the lateral drain plug onto the sludge discharge to close it.
Note:
If cleaning the clogged sieve is not sufficient, then you should remove the
“Screenex” sieve and thoroughly rinse it out from both sides under running water.
Cleaning the trickle mat
1. Turn off the pump and open the lid of the filter.
2. Swing up the sieve insert and remove the trickle mat.
3. Clean the trickle mat under running water. Do not use cleaning agents!
4. Re-insert the trickle mat and swing down the sieve insert.
5. Close the filter lid and turn on the pump.
Note:
If cleaning the trickle mat is not sufficient then it should be replaced.
Cleaning filter pads
The Biotec filter is maintenance free for the most part. The pad inserts however should
be cleaned as needed (indicated by the maintenance indicator).
Note:
The pad inserts should be cleaned when water runs over the partition wall in the
container. In this case the red LED in the maintenance indicator will blink.
1. Turn off the pump and open the lid of the filter.
2. Swing up the filter insert.
3. Set the cleaning tool on a pad holder compress the pad inserts several times.
This mechanically cleans the pad inserts.
4. Mechanically clean all pad inserts as described above.
5. Remove the partition between filter and substrate chamber and open the cleaning
discharge with the slide valve. The polluted water will run off. Wait until all the
water has left the filter.
6. Close the cleaning discharge and turn on the pump until the filter is completely
filled with pond water.
7. Open the cleaning discharge again and the let the water flow out to rinse out the
residual sludge particles from the filter. Close the cleaning discharge and repeat
the rinsing process 2-3 times. On conclusion re-insert the partition.
8. Swing the filter insert down again and close the filter lid.
9. Turn on the pump to place the filter in operation again.
Note:
If the pad inserts are so strongly polluted that the normal cleaning is no longer
sufficient you can take out the filter pad and clean it under clean water. Do not use
cleaning agents!
