Replacing
Print Heads
You
need
to
replace
a
head
if
one
or
more
of
the
following
symptoms
occurs:
•
The
pattern
test
reveals
that
more
than
15
nozzles
are
not
functioning
in
one
area
of
the
head.
•
Visual
inspection
reveals
that
the
surface
of
the
head
is
damaged—
peeling
or
bubbles
in
the
nozzle
area.
•
The
Eden
interface
displays
a
warning
or
malfunction
message
relating
to
a
head—

temperature
timeout
Head
Heater
thermistor
open
Head
Heater
thermistor
short
•
Tests
reveal
that
the
material
printed
by
a
head
is
underweight
(that
is,
not
enough
material
is
being
outputted).
Note:
Weight tests are performed only by an authorized service engineer.
A
wizard
guides
you
through
the
procedure
of
replacing
a
head,
and
adjusts
components
of
the
Eden
printer
to
enable
you
to
perform
it.
Only
replace
a
head
with
the
aid
of
the
wizard.
The
procedure
takes
75—90
minutes,
and
consists
of
the
following
phases:
A. Identifying
the
head(s)
needing
replacement.
This
is
usually
done
by
examining
the
results
of
the
pattern
test,
after
attempting
all
other
means
for
improving
quality
(see
Otherwise,
evidence
of
physical
damage
to
the
head
surface
or
a
malfunction
message
indicates
which
head
needs
replacing.
B. Preparing
the
block
for
head
replacement.
This
is
done
automatically
when
you
run
the
Head
Replacement
wizard.

After
weighing
it
on
a
scale,
you
enter
the
weight
in
the
wizard
dialog
box.
F. Performing
Replacing print heads is expensive. Replace them only after consulting with
Objet customer support to determine that head replacement is necessary.
