When Copies Do Not Turn Out as Expected
Read below for the reasons and explanations for problems that you might
encounter when using the copier. Solutions are provided where applicable.
The key you want to select is grayed out and cannot be selected.
Cause
: The combination of settings by pressing the key concerned is not allowed, or the
necessary conditions for specifying that setting are not met.
When a key is grayed out, its function is not applicable to the current setting and
cannot be selected.
Remedy : Refer to the manuals provided for details on the key’s functions and an
understanding of the correct settings combination and procedure.
The selection of the keys on the screen is different from those in the manual.
Cause
: The keys displayed on the screen vary according to the options that are
attached to the copier. In order to explain all the functions of the copier in the
manual, explanations are given with the assumption that the necessary option is
attached. Consequently, the screens used in the manual reflect the keys that are
available when the option concerned is attached.
Remedy : Refer to the descriptions and explanations provided in the manual regarding the
options that are required by various functions.
Your settings are cleared when you return to the copier after having left while in the process
of carrying out certain settings.
Cause
: If no key is pressed for a certain period of time, the display automatically returns
to the Basic Features screen. This function is called the Auto Clear function.
Remedy : You can change the Auto Clear Time under [Timer Settings] in Additional
Functions. (See Chapter 2, “Customizing Settings to Your Needs,” in the
Reference Guide.)
