Instruct the patient as follows:
"Decide which field shows more flicker and press the corresponding key on the in-
strument."
11.2 Starting an examination
To start an examination click on the [Start] button (sect. 8.10, page 22).
During the examination the responses given by the patient and the momentarily best fit-
ting psychometric curve are shown in the chart below (sect. 9.1.5, page 27) and the values
in the result fields (sect. 9.1.3, page 25) are continuously adjusted.
When the examination has been completed the result fields show the final values.
If during the examination the patient fails to respond to a stimulus within two seconds
the following warning appears:
Fig. 11-1: Patient instruction
The patient can now no longer respond and you have to decide whether to continue or
break off the examination.
If the patient frequently gets this message after a stimulus and can’t decide, encourage
him to press a key even if the test fields look the same.
Alternatively you can increase the response time by a factor of two and continue, or enter
a response yourself.
Note
The following practical guide (sect. 12, page 35) contains more detailed information on
the measurement with the OCULUS C-Quant.
