DTMF Detect (DTMF)
If the DTMF feature is to be used, record information for this section.
The BV1250 is capable of DTMF detection and regeneration. When
the calling end passes digits after a call has been established, the
BV1250 on the originating end detects the DTMF tones, captures
them, and packetizes them for TCP transmission to the destination
BV1250 unit where regeneration occurs.
The available settings include:
No:
DTMF will not be detected (disabled)
Outgoing (Default):
DTMF will be detected for outgoing
calls.
Incoming:
DTMF will be detected for incoming
calls.
Both:
DTM will be detected for incoming and
outgoing calls.
As a general rule it is best to avoid duplicating detection on two
communicating BV1250 units. This can be accomplished by always
selecting the DTMF detect Outgoing parameter when using DTMF
regeneration.
PAD In and PAD Out (PAD_VALUE)
For each port, use the PAD In and PAD Out fields to record the
amount of PAD to be introduced into the communication between a
BV1250 unit and other devices.
PAD is a voice line gain/loss function expressed in decibels (dB)
which is introduced into communications between a BV1250 unit and
the terminating device (e.g. Telephone/PBX/KTS). This feature is
used to emulate the loss normally generated in PSTN network
transmission.
The following values are provided in the MCS list box.
+14dB, +12dB, +10dB, +8dB, +6dB, +4dB, +2dB, 0dB, -2dB,
-4dB, -6dB, -8dB, -10dB, -12dB, -14dB, -40dB
The recommended value for a BV1250-AP/FXS unit is –12dB.
In the sample, the PAD In and PAD Out parameters for all ports are
configured to the defaults for a BV1250-AP/FXS unit, In = 0dB
and Out = -12dB.
In a few cases, these settings may need to be adjusted. See Appendix
F: for details.
