Network Preparation
•
You should be familiar with network administration
as well as the physical setup and operation of your
network.
•
Advise users of possible disruption during installa-
tion.
•
Make sure the serial number and Ethernet address
of your Network Print Server are available—print a
Configuration Sheet by pressing and holding the
Test button below the Ethernet connection on the
Network Print Server.
•
Assign an IP address and a hostname (alias) to the
Network Print Server.
•
Use the network name service or the “/etc/hosts”
file to add the Network Print Server to the network.
Before You Start
Before running OkiNet for TCP/IP, you must do the fol-
lowing:

If necessary, install the Network Print Server hard-
ware and connect the cabling. Instructions for
hardware installation are found in your printer
User's Guide.
•
Press the Test button on the print server to print a
Configuration Sheet. This printout contains infor-
mation about the Network Print Server that you
need to complete the installation.
