Using Olicom as a
dialler
You can use Olicom to dial telephone num-
bers. The modem must be connected to the
same line as your telephone.
Click on
Telephone
. Tick the
Dialler box
.
Olicom prompts you to pick up the receiver
to take the call.
Olicom can recognise 8 digit telephone num-
bers on the screen. To do this make sure that
a call is not already in progress.
When Olicom recognises a telephone
number, the cursor changes its shape.
Double click on the telephone number.
A dialling dialogue box appears. The
Dialler
box
should already have been ticked. Click
on
Dial
.
Transferred file
directory
You can specify the directory in which
you wish to store received files. Click on
Parameters
in the
Settings
menu.
Specify the directory.
The default directory is:
C:\OLICOMW\TRANSFER\
File transfers
Files can be transferred between two PCs or
with a BBS server.
A file transfer is the act of sending a file from
one terminal to another.
A/ Before connecting you must
• Check communication parameters
(connection mode, rate, data format
etc.).
• Check the type of terminal used.
Choose teletype by default.
Default parameters to be used:
• Teletype terminal
• Auto-mode connection mode (the
rate will be regulated automatically)
• Corr compression
• RTS/CTS flow control
• 8 bits, no parity.
Olitec’s protocol makes file transfers easy
between two Olicom users. The sender
controls the transfer.
The protocol is managed by
Ymodem Batch,
Ymodem G Batch, Kermit and Zmodem.

File sender
• Check that the Olitec protocol is enabled in
the
Preference
option of the
Settings
menu.
• Click on
Call
in the
Comm
menu.
• Adjust communication parameters
(
Parameters
box)
• Enter the number to be dialled. Click on
Dial.
Make sure that the
Dialler
is enabled.
• When connected, click on
Send
in the
Transfer
menu.
