If paper jams occur frequently
If paper often gets jammed, check that the paper in all the cassettes is positioned correctly, that none of it is folded
or damp, and that the paper guides and paper size lever inside the cassettes are adjusted correctly (
☞
«Adapting
the cassettes to a different paper size», p. 24).
If the photocopier continues to malfunction, follow the procedure described below to clean the static charge
eliminator (A14).
Having opened the front panel (A3)
and lifted the top part of the body of
the machine using the green lever to
open the photocopier (A10), pull out
the static charge eliminator (A14).
Using the brush to eliminate static
charge (A13), clean the slot care-
fully.
Reposition the static charge elimina-
tor (A14) by pushing it using the
handle until it locks into position, rein-
sert the brush, lower the top part of
the body of the machine and close
the front panel.
If the copies are too light or too dark
If, having checked that the glass platen is perfectly clean and that the
exposure indicator (B19) does not indicate that a light or dark setting has been
made manually, the copies are too light or dark, this is probably due to an
incorrect exposure system adjustment. To adjust exposure, open the front
panel (A3), turn the exposure regulating knob (A11) as indicated in the figure
(clockwise = darker copies; anticlockwise = lighter copies).
Try making a copy and, if necessary, make further adjustments.

If the machine malfunctions for any reason other than the paper or toner running out or paper jamming, the
display (B12) will show a message comprising the letter and a number blinking alternately.
In many cases, the problem can be solved by performing one of the following operations:
•
Switching the machine off and on again.
•
Removing and reinserting the toner cartridge (
☞
«Adding toner», p. 25).
•
Opening and closing the top part of the body of the machine by opening the front panel and using the green
photocopier opening lever (A10).
If the photocopier continues to malfunction (the letter and a number continue to blink alternately on the
display (B12)), switch the machine off by using the power switch (A6), unplug the power cable from the mains and
contact your nearest OLIVETTI service centre.
