• The gamma correction data is calculated using the density measurements of different gradation levels. The optimum LD intensity is set
for each of the different gradation levels.
1.16.3 Control contents
(1) Image stabilization type (mode)
• Eight different modes of image stabilization are available.
• A specific mode is selected according to the environmental conditions and print requirements, thereby achieving stabilized image at all
times.
Stabilization type
Description
Mode 1 (initialization and image
stabilization)
Executed when “Init Image Stabilization” is selected from the control panel.
Mode 1 (long image stabilization)
Executed for all stabilization controls.
Mode 2 (short image stabilization)
Simply executed for all stabilization controls.
Mode 3 (gamma corr registration
control)
Executed only for color registration control and gamma correction.
Mode 4 (monochrome, long image
stabilization)
A mode exclusive for monochrome, executed for all stabilization controls during monochrome
printing.
Mode 5 (registration control)
Executed only for registration control. Executed when internal temperature of machine
changes.
Mode 6 (monochrome, gamma correction)
A mode exclusive for monochrome, executed only for gamma correction.
Mode 7 (gamma correction)
Executed only for gamma correction.
Mode 8 (monochrome, short image
stabilization)
A mode exclusive for monochrome, simply executed for all stabilization controls during
monochrome printing.
(2) Image stabilization execution flow
(a) Determination of stabilization type
• During predrive, standby, printing, or when stabilization completed, judge the stabilization status and determine stabilization type as
well as start timing depending on factors of stabilization and priority of these factors. If the toner empty condition is detected,
stabilization judgment will not be executed.
(b) Execution of image stabilization
• When stabilization type and start timing are determined through stabilization judgment, image stabilization will be executed.
• Displays the message "Calibrating" on the operation panel while executing the image stabilization.
• Opening the front door/right door during image stabilization, occurrence of troubles or failure in adjustment for each sequence may
stop image stabilization.
(c) Stabilization start timing
Types of stabilization start timing are shown below.
Level 0*
Executed immediately.
Level 1*
Executed at any of the following timing.
Start of color printing/End of color printing/Before switching to color mode/Sorting by number of copies.
Level 2
Executed at any of the following timing.
Start of color printing/End of color printing/Before switching to color mode.
Level 3
Executed at start of color printing or before switching to color mode.
• *If there are less than 10 sheets of paper remained to be printed, stabilization will be executed after completing the job.
(d) Completing image stabilization
For the type of image stabilization which has been executed on the following modes, stabilization adjustment will be executed again after
completing the stabilization. Stabilization start timing will turn to level 3 regardless of stabilization type.
• Mode 3 (gamma corr color registration control)
• Mode 4 (monochrome, long image stabilization)
• Mode 5 (color registration control)
• Mode 6 (monochrome, gamma correction)
• Mode 8 (monochrome, short image stabilization)
(3) Control sequence by mode
• A different control sequence applies according to the mode of image stabilization.
• Control is performed in the specified sequence for each mode.
