that blocks the print
head carriage by pulling the flap upwards (see picture be-
low).

Once the fax is connected to the power supply, it automati-
cally carries out a short test to check the functions of its
components, therefore, the following messages (usually in
English) appear on the display.
On the upper line:
AUTOMATIC RX
or, in the models with built-in telephone answering device,
the total number of messages received, in this case,"00".
AUTOMATIC RX 00
and alternating on the lower line:
CHECK PRINT HEAD
SET DATE/TIME
