When the ERROR indicator lights
In the event of trouble, the ERROR indicator will light. Likewise, an alarm will sound to notify you of
the error. Refer to the message display for the type of error and follow the necessary procedure to
eliminate the trouble.
If the ERROR indicator does not go out even after following the required procedure, press the
STOP/RESET key.
* The volume of the error alarm can be set to one of 3 levels (refer to Memory Switch No. 06:
“Speaker Volume”, page 140) or it can be turned OFF (refer to Memory Switch No. 54: “Alarm
ON/OFF”, page 141).

When this message is displayed

“ERROR!” is displayed
An error has occured during transmission or reception. A
message regarding the error will be displayed and the ERROR
indicator will light. When the error involves a transmission, a
Transmission report will be printed out.
* The cause of the error will be indicated by an error code on the
Transmission report which is printed out when a
communications error occurs during a transmission. In the case
of an error during a reception, print out an Activity report (refer
to page 117) and verify the error code. Refer to “Appendix 4:
Error code tables”, page 180, for an explanation of each error
code.

“PAPER JAM” is displayed
Paper has jammed inside the facsimile. Follow the procedure in
“

Paper jam inside the facsimile”, page 87, and remove the
jammed paper.

The ERROR indicator will light when…
• the facsimile is open.
• the imaging unit needs to be replaced.
• paper has run out.
• there is a paper jam.
• there is a document jam.
• there is a communications error, etc.
