Using a nylon-bristle brush, scrub the shelf that
contains the Olympus logo and part number.
Flush the interior of the handpiece with cool distilled,
deionized, or potable water. Actuate the retention
mechanism while flushing. Ensure water flows through
all drainage ports.
Use 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe and flush the
handpiece, power cord, and plug. Flush the exterior to
remove any remaining residue.
Dry completely with a lint-free cloth. Visibly inspect the entire handpiece for any remaining contamination and repeat
the cleaning procedure if needed.
Actuate the blade retention mechanism.

Automated cleaning can be performed in an automatic
washer-disinfector as an alternative to manual cleaning.
The handpiece is designed for sterilization by steam autoclave.
Handpieces can be sterilized wrapped or unwrapped.
Place the handpiece and cord, on the washer rack or
place them in the approved tray
(Item EGMDHPTRAY).
The washer should be set to the Vario TD cycle. After
automated cleaning, visually inspect the handpiece for
any remaining residue and repeat the cleaning procedure
if needed.

To satisfy international, regional, governmental, or health-
care facility requirements, the handpiece may be processed at
temperatures up to 137° C without causing damage.
