4.2 PRINT FORMATTING
When a Voltage channel (or the Math) channel is programmed, the OM-550 prompts
the user for a decimal point position (or decimal point fix). This number between 0 and
5 is the location of the decimal point in the print field.

Any five-digit data value between "±.00000" and "±99999" can be printed. Values
outside this range are valid data, and will be accurately saved in memory, but printed
as "*****" because they exceed the space available for printing on the paper tape.
Temperature channels are automatically formatted with one decimal place (to produce
0.1° resolution). The user can select the decimal-point position for Voltage and Math
channels.
For example, a Voltage channel could r2.0000 VDC input. This would display
properly with decimal-point positions of 0 through 4 but be printed as "*****" if the
position 5 is chosen because "2.0000" cannot be displayed in a ".#####" field. The
solution in this example is to reprogram the channel's decimal-point position to 4, as
follows:
