Option 3—Connecting Directly to J1939
Use the direct connection method (no repeater cable) when the distance between the MAS
and J1939 bus connection point does not exceed 10 feet. Typically, this option can be used if
a special OEM accessory cable is supplied that has a distance of less than 10 feet.
Connect the MCP100 accessory cable to the OEM-supplied stub connector.
In order for the MCP100 to receive J1939 data, the MAS CAN/J1939 wires must be
connected to the truck’s J1939 CAN bus in the vehicle.
Follow all SAE guidelines when connecting to the J1939 data source.
