• Use clean, dry hands to remove a test strip from the vial. The test strip may be touched anywhere on its
surface.
Do Not
bend, cut or modify the test strip in any way.
• When opening a new vial of test strips, record the discard date (date opened plus 6 months) on the
label.
• Be sure the whole blood sample is not contaminated by IV fluid.
Anti-Coagulants
• Whole blood samples with the following anti-coagulants are suitable for use;
Heparin, Citrate and
EDTA
. Samples with Fluoride and Oxalate as anti-coagulants are not suitable.
Interfering Substances
•
Do Not
use the meter when an interfering substance, such as
Xylose and PAM (Pralidoxime)
, is known
or suspected to be in the patient’s whole blood sample.
• Whole blood samples with the following anticoagulants are
NOT suitable for use: Fluoride and Oxalate
.
