—Continued
Connecting to an AV Receiver
Step 1: Audio Connection
You can connect the DVD player to your AV receiver
using the 2-channel analog audio output or one of the
digital audio outputs.
D
Digital Audio Output Connection
Connect one of the DVD player’s DIGITAL AUDIO
OUTPUT (OPTICAL or COAXIAL) jacks to the
corresponding jack on your AV receiver.
• If the audio format of the digital output does not
match the capabilities of your amplifier, the ampli-
fier will produce a strong, distorted sound or no
sound at all.
• To see the audio format of the current disc in the
on-screen display, press AUDIO.
• This unit does not perform internal (2 channel)
decoding of a DTS sound track. To enjoy DTS
multi channel surround, you must connect this
unit to a DTS compatible AV receiver via one of
this unit’s digital audio outputs.
• If your AV receiver doesn’t support Dolby Digital
and DTS, see page 22.
E
Analog Audio Connection
Connect the ANALOG AUDIO OUT L/R jacks on
this player to a set of analog audio inputs on your
AV receiver.
Step 2: Video Connection (See pages 16–17)
You may also want to connect the DVD player’s video
output to your AV receiver and connect the AV receiver’s
video output to a video input on your TV.
You can use any of the DVD player’s video outputs. Typ-
ically, you must use the same type of video cable to con-
nect your DVD player to your AV receiver as you do to
connect your AV receiver to your TV.
