nician who is experienced in working with batteries and un-
derstands the necessary safety precautions. Keep unauthor-
ised personnel away from batteries
The internal batteries of the UPS are heavy. Use caution
when handling the heavy batteries
Batteries can pose a risk of electric shock or injury due to
high short-circuit currents. Comply with the following safety
precautions:
o
Remove watches, jewellery and other metal objects
from your body
o
Use only tools with insulated grips and handles
o
Do not place tools or metal parts on to the batteries
The batteries may only be replaced with the same number of
batteries of the same type
Batteries must be disposed of properly. Comply with the local
regulations for the proper disposal of batteries
Batteries may not be incinerated. There is a risk of explosion
Refrain from opening or tampering with the batteries. Leak-
ing electrolytes are hazardous to the eyes and skin. They
can be highly toxic
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. Do not perform modifications
to the cabling or the connections of the batteries yourself.
Attempting to modify the cabling of the batteries yourself can
lead to serious injuries
The batteries are located behind the front cover of the UPS system
or the battery module. For better handling, the batteries are pack-
aged together in multiple battery module inserts.
1. Remove the front cover of the UPS system/battery module
and release the ribbon cable from the display of the front cover
(see Figure 28).
