5.1
Redundancy/parallel operation
The UPS systems XANTO S 10000 3/1 and XANTO S 20000 3/1
facilitate a mixed redundancy/parallel operation as reliable N+X net-
work. N stands for the minimum number of parallel UPS systems
which the load requires. X stands for the redundant UPS systems.
The larger X is, the more reliable the power supply is. If X = 0, no
redundancy is given. The network in this case is a pure parallel op-
eration for increased performance.
5.1.1
Electrical installation redundant/parallel operation
NOTE
A maximum of four UPS systems (with equal output power)
can be switched as N+X network
All UPS systems must be connected to the same mains
supply
Each UPS system requires the same number of batteries
(internal batteries or additional battery modules)
Refer to the
Electrical installation
section for information
about cable cross-section, fuses and terminal strip
1. Remove the cover from the parallel connection to the UPS
systems. Connect each UPS system to a further UPS system
using the parallel cable. Then screw the holder onto the paral-
lel connection. The maximum length between the UPS sys-
tems is 3 m. Do not yet switch on the UPS systems.
2. Connect the inputs and outputs of the UPS systems according
to Figure 23 and Figure 24 with the individual power switches
(power switch is not included in the scope of delivery). Make
sure that all power switches are opened.
3. In addition, ONLINE recommends installing an additional
maintenance switch (not included in the scope of delivery) for
the network (see Figure 24).
