4.2 Operating modes
The status of the UPS system is displayed on the control panel on
the front side.
4.2.1 Normal mode
In normal mode, the
display lights up continuously and the UPS
system is supplied by the mains power supply. The UPS system
monitors the batteries and charges these as needed. The batteries
also provide power supply protection to the devices connected to the
output of the UPS system.
The UPS system can occasionally switch to the high-alarm mode
unnoticed. This usually occurs if the mains power supply is subject to
unfavourable conditions. In high-alarm mode, the UPS system deac-
tivates the battery support test in order to ensure maximum battery
capacity, if necessary. The UPS system remains in high-alarm mode
for 24 hours or until this mode is changed by a command of the
power strategy, before it switches to the previous mode.
The optional settings for "High Efficiency" and "Power strategy mini-
mise the heat emission to the rack environment (see
User Settings
).
4.2.2 Battery mode
If the UPS system is operated during a power failure, the audio warn-
ing signal sounds every 5 seconds and the
display lights up con-
tinuously.
After the mains power supply returns, the UPS system switches to
normal mode and the batteries are recharged.
If the battery charge state is low, the
display flashes slowly and
the audio warning signal is sounded every second. If the warning
message "Battery Low" is set, the
display also lights up continu-
ously. This warning message only supplies an approximate value
and the actual time until shutdown can vary significantly.
