Performing Interventions
Each simulator is designed for training for multiple types of injuries.
Airways
Multiple airway management procedures can be
performed with each TCCS Plus:
Endotracheal tube placement
Tongue-swelling for difficult airway
Bag-valve-mask ventilation
Assessment of oral and nasal areas
Insert nasal and oral pharyngeal airways
Perform intubation – King LT and i-gel
Cricothyrotomy
Two removable tracheas are included with the
simulator. When practicing with the Emergency Airway use the insert with the open trachea rings and
then place tape over them to simulate the cricothyroid membrane.
Additionally, a replaceable, multi-use neck band enables the practice of performing surgical emergency
airway procedures. Each band should enable six to eight applications. After each use, rotate the band to
move the incision site away from the trachea. See
Replacing the Emergency Airway Neckband
below.
When simulating a difficult airway, the Swollen Tongue
setting in the OEI software can be used to “harden” the
otherwise soft tongue, and the breakaway teeth
further establish realism during intubation.
