Troubleshooting
D-19
■
If the I
2
C problems are resolved by removal of a PSU, assume the PSU is
faulty.
■
If the I
2
C problems are resolved by removing an I/O boat, determine
whether the problem is with the I/O boat itself or the link card in the I/O
boat. Swap the link card from the failed I/O boat to a known good I/O boat
to determine if the problem follows the link card.
c. If the errors continue to appear, either the chassis is faulty or multiple FRUs
have I
2
C problems. Contact a technical support engineer for advanced
assistance.
D.2.7
Reported Failures on the Microcontroller
Most reported device failures indicate a problem with a specific device. There are
some microcontroller reported failures that are side-effects caused by other system
problems.
D.2.7.1
Fan Controller Reset
The fan controller on the centerplane is not normally reset during regular operation.
If too many resets occur within a specific time, a device failure is reported for
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/fanctrl=0
.
Possible Causes
■
You attempted to hot-plug an I/O boat.
■
The power circuitry failed on the centerplane.
■
There is a faulty reset signal coming from a link card in an I/O boat.
■
There is a faulty reset signal coming from an I/O boat.
Resolution
1. If an I/O boat was inserted, reinitialize the fan controller by resetting the
management devices in the chassis:
MSGID IOXSCF-8000-1A fault.chassis.iox.device.fail
XSCF>
ioxadm reset IOX@
